Terms of Service

Last updated: May 11, 2026

1. What Lane is, and isn't

Lane is a referral and matchmaking service. We are not a lender, broker, or dealership. We do not approve or decline financing, set interest rates, or sell vehicles. Approval, rates, and final terms are determined solely by the dealership and lender you ultimately deal with.

2. Eligibility

To use Lane you must be at least 18 years old (19 in some provinces), legally permitted to enter into a financing contract in Ontario, and currently residing in our service area. You must provide accurate, current information.

3. No guarantee of approval

"Pre-qualify" means we believe a dealership partner is reasonably likely to be able to work with your situation. It is not an offer of credit, a loan commitment, or a guarantee that you will be approved. Final approval, the vehicle you can qualify for, the down payment required, the interest rate, and all other terms are determined by the dealership and lender after their own underwriting and a hard credit check, which requires your separate written consent.

4. Stable income matters

Auto-financing approvals in Canada typically require a verifiable, stable source of income, for example, employment, self-employment income, pension, or government benefits, usually with recent pay stubs or bank statements. If you currently have no source of income, lenders are very unlikely to approve a car loan, regardless of your credit. Our Affordability Coach can help you sense-check what's realistic before you apply.

5. How Lane is paid

Lane is paid a referral fee by the dealership when a deal closes. You never pay Lane directly. The referral fee does not change the price of your vehicle or your financing terms.

6. Your responsibilities

  • Provide accurate information.
  • Read and understand any contract before signing it with a dealership.
  • Make your own decision about what monthly payment you can afford.
  • Comply with all applicable laws, including consumer protection and motor vehicle laws in your province.

7. Communications

By submitting our form you agree that Lane and the matched dealership may contact you by email, phone, SMS, and messaging apps about your inquiry. You can ask us to stop at any time.

8. Intellectual property

The Lane name, logo, wordmark, and website content are owned by Lane. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute them without our written permission.

9. Disclaimers

The website and our service are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lane is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service or from any transaction with a dealership or lender. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim related to the service is limited to CAD $100.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold Lane harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the service, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario. The courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, except where applicable consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring a claim in your local jurisdiction.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
